To enhance the operational efficiency and service quality of branch staff, MCC Bank conducted a one-day workshop on “Operational Issues – Deposits & Services – Part II” on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Staff Training Centre, Administrative Office, Mangaluru.

The workshop was organised with the objective of strengthening the practical knowledge of staff on various deposit products, account-opening procedures, documentation requirements, KYC compliance, CBS-related processes, and other operational issues encountered in the day-to-day functioning of branches. Particular emphasis was placed on the procedures and requirements for opening and operating accounts of individuals, proprietorship concerns, partnership firms, companies, trusts, associations, clubs, educational institutions, religious institutions and other organizations, with a focus on proper documentation, KYC compliance, verification and correct processing of accounts in the CBS.
The resource persons for the workshop were Mr S. H. Visweswaraiah, Advisor, and former Dy General Manager of State Bank, Mrs Shainy Lasrado, Senior Manager, Kulshekar Branch. The sessions focused extensively on the practical aspects of handling deposit accounts and customer services. Detailed discussions were held on the procedures and requirements for opening different types of Savings Bank Accounts, Current Accounts and Term Deposit Accounts, with particular emphasis on proper documentation, verification of customer details, KYC requirements and correct processing of accounts in the CBS.

As part of the workshop, staff members also participated in practical sessions and group discussions on various operational issues relating to account opening and maintenance. The participants shared and presented the points discussed by their respective groups, covering practical aspects of account opening, documentation, KYC requirements and CBS procedures. The interactive sessions also provided an opportunity for participants to clarify their doubts and exchange their experiences and best practices.

Mr Raj F. Menezes, Deputy General Manager, addressed the participants on various day-to-day operational issues being faced at branches. He stressed the importance of exercising due care and caution while handling official communications and instructed the staff to carefully verify emails, instructions and related communications before taking any action.

Mr Sunil Menezes, General Manager, conducted a detailed session on the guidelines and procedures for closure of Jewel Loan Accounts and release of pledged jewels. The session highlighted the importance of following the prescribed procedures uniformly at all branches, ensuring proper verification and documentation, obtaining the necessary acknowledgements from borrowers and exercising due care while releasing pledged jewels.

Mr Alwyn Dsouza, Senior Manager, IT Department, Mr Vishwas, IT Department, and Mr Pretham Gonsalves provided technical and organisational assistance for the successful conduct of the workshop.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic and active participation from the staff. The participants actively engaged in discussions, practical exercises and case-based sessions and shared their experiences relating to operational issues at branches. The interactive nature of the programme helped the participants gain a better understanding of the prescribed procedures and strengthened their confidence in handling deposit-related operations and customer services effectively.
The workshop concluded with an emphasis on accuracy, compliance, customer service and adherence to the Bank’s prescribed procedures and guidelines in all branch operations.
